Podgorica, Montenegro (25 October 2019) – Prime Minister Duško Marković hosted today Minister of the Interior of the Republic of Turkey Suleyman Soylu, who is paying an official visit to Montenegro.

The Prime Minister emphasised the excellent bilateral relations between the two countries, including the high-level political dialogue, which is the basis for successful cooperation in all areas.

"Montenegro has responsible attitude towards Turkish companies that operate business here, appreciating their investments, and in this way we send a message to other countries that Montenegro is a safe investment destination with a high-level business security," the Prime Minister said at the meeting.

PM Marković pointed out that there is room for further strengthening of economic cooperation and for new investments, especially in the Northern region of Montenegro in the fields of agriculture, livestock breeding, and tourism.

Both sides agreed that the relations between the two countries gained new quality with Montenegro's accession to NATO. Minister Soylu particularly welcomed Montenegro's progress in European integration, stressing that Turkey strongly supports enlargement policy and that Montenegro's place is in the European Union.

The two officials also exchanged views on security issues at European and wider level.

Minister of the Interior of Montenegro Mevludin Nuhodžić also attended the meeting.
