I am extremely pleased with the dynamics of the works on the priority motorway section. The works are taking place on the whole route, several tunnel pipes have been pierced, each citizen passing Bioče can see extent of the works, Prime Minister Marković said in an interview with Pobjeda. One of Podgorica's air routes is just above the motorway construction site, so one can literally "from the airplane" see this great undertaking. And the biggest doubting Thomas can see that the motorway is a reality, PM Marković said said.

The Prime Minister said that there is no doubt that the works are progressing at an excellent pace, that the contractor conceptualised the dynamics well. Therefore, the assurances that the section will be built and delivered within the anticipated deadline are justified.

The motorway is not only the largest infrastructure project in the history of Montenegro, it is also the focus of the highest bodies of the two countries. This was one of the key topics of my conversation at the end of November in Budapest with Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China Li Keqiang. At that time, we noted that cooperation in the field of infrastructure, i.e. successful start of the construction of the priority section contributed to significant progress in inter-state relations, and it paves the path for strengthening cooperation in other fields. The construction of the motorway, therefore, is not only progressing at an excellent pace, but both countries see this project as a guarantee of the seriousness and interest of both sides and as a springboard for other projects.

When asked about expected effects of the motorway construction on the economy, PM Marković said that Montenegrin economy already enjoys the benefits. Montenegro is the fifth country in Europe according to the growth of economy in the past year, and this impressive growth is largely a result of major infrastructure projects, primarily the motorway. The result of the motorway construction and our fiscal consolidation measures ensured us the trust of leading international financial institutions, the Prime Minister said, stressing the rise of Montenegro's credit rating, progress on competitiveness lists and decrease in unemployment... PR ServiceSo, the start of motorway construction has led to numerous positive effects. However, this is just the beginning. It is known that large infrastructure projects contribute to economy momentum and provide the economy with extra strength and perspective. Prime Minister Marković said that the motorway construction will also contribute to new jobs and better standard of living, which is the Government's priority goal.

The Prime Minister emphasised that the continuation of the motorway construction is a topic that the Government is occupied with. PM Marković said that his last month's meeting with Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang concluded with the agreement that both countries and governments are interested in continuing the construction of the next sections after the completion of the priority section of the Bar-Boljare motorway, according to the Montenegrin private-public partnership model and interested Chinese companies.

Successful realisation of the first, most difficult section is the best recommendation for the continuation of cooperation.

When asked how the country is protected against exchange rate differences, given that the loan for construction of priority section is contracted in dollars, PM Marković said that nobody in the world can predict a currency fluctuation and therefore there is a safeguard clause in the contract.
