Prime Minister Duško Marković hosted earlier today Markus Pilgrim, Director of International Labour Organization (ILO) for Central and Eastern Europe.

Both sides expressed satisfaction with the relations between Montenegro and the ILO and cooperation in all relevant fields, which has already given concrete results, especially in the Decent Work Programme for the period 2015-2017.

Prime Minister Marković emphasised the excellent communication between the Government of Montenegro and the business community and social partners, saying that this success was certainly contributed by the good cooperation of Montenegro with the ILO which helped the country in the process of adopting new standards. Director Pilgrim assessed that the partnership relations of the ILO with the Union of Employers of Montenegro can serve as a model for other countries in the region, while it already cooperates successfully with the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare.

The Prime Minister informed the guest about the priorities of the Government and the successful implementation of fiscal consolidation measures, stressing that the government, in preparing strategic policies, regularly listens impulses from all relevant segments of society, since the goal is to define key policies in high-quality dialogue.

PM Marković also emphasised that the Government of Montenegro is particularly interested in closer cooperation with the ILO in finding the best solutions for further increase of efficiency in the fight against informal economy, especially the part concerning the rights of employees and undeclared work.

The Prime Minister presented the analysis of the parafiscality that the ILO has developed for each country in cooperation with its partners – in Montenegro with the Union of Employers. Prime Minister Marković assessed that it was a valuable document that would enter the government's analytical basis for drafting of relevant laws.

The meeting was attended by President of the Union of Employers of Montenegro Svetlana Vuksanović, and a senior specialist in the ILO Dragan Radić.
